Certifications & Standards

Charging equipment is certified per model and per market. This page sets out what is held on the ranges we supply, and what has to be confirmed for your order.

Type 2 connectors and charging cables	TÜV Rheinland certified connector range, with test report and certificate. Built to the IEC / EN connector standards used in Europe.
AC portable chargers (Mode 2)	CE marking for the European market, with a Type B RCD (AC 30 mA plus DC 6 mA) built into the control box. Documentation supplied per model.
AC wallboxes (Mode 3)	CE for the European market; North American wallbox and portable models are built with the SAE J1772 connector. Confirm the certification position for your specific model before ordering.
DC fast chargers, export (CCS2)	Documented to CCS2 and CHAdeMO with OCPP 1.6 communication and the European 9-pin connector. Certification and declaration documents are provided per order.
DC fast chargers, China standard	Built to the GB/T connector and charging standard. These models are for the Chinese market and equivalent GB/T markets only.
Charging modules	Isolated 20 / 30 kW modules with CE documentation for the module itself. Your cabinet certification is a system-level exercise and depends on your design.
UL / ETL listing — North America (on request)	North American listed versions are built to order rather than held as catalogue stock. AC wallboxes and portable units are listed to UL 2594 with UL 2231 personnel protection; DC fast chargers to UL 2202 / UL 2594; charging couplers to UL 2251. Both UL and ETL (Intertek) listing routes are available depending on the model and your inspector's preference — both are NRTL listings to the same standards. Tell us the standard, the state and the AHJ at enquiry; we confirm the listed configuration, the certificate and the added lead time before you commit.
US state programmes	Some funding programmes (utility, state and federal) require an NRTL-listed product plus a US-based warranty and documentation set. We can supply that package for listed models — confirm the programme requirements with your application so we scope it correctly.

Read this before you specify: certification is model- and market-specific, and installations are also checked against local rules — grid connection requirements, metering for billing, and in North America the NEC and the relevant UL standards for the finished assembly. We confirm the position for the exact model and destination country on your order, and we will not claim a certification we cannot document. If you need a model certified to a standard we do not currently hold, tell us early: it can usually be scoped as a project, but not after the goods have shipped — a UL or ETL listing in particular adds test and review time to the schedule, so it has to be decided before production, not after.

Type 2 / IEC 62196

The European AC connector used on wallboxes and portable chargers. If a European site specifies Type 2, you need a Type 2 unit — a GB/T or J1772 unit will not fit.

CCS2 for European DC

The European DC connector, sometimes written COMBO 2. European DC chargers must use it; CCS2 units are what we supply for EU projects.

SAE J1772 for North America

The North American AC connector. NACS (Tesla) is increasingly common on vehicles: our portable North American units ship with NACS adaptors.

GB/T for China

The Chinese national charging standard, used on the domestic DC range. Not compatible with European or North American vehicles.

OCPP for software

The open protocol that lets a charger talk to a backend. OCPP 1.6J is standard on our connected models, with a path to 2.0.1 for operators who need it.

TÜV Rheinland

An independent testing house. The connector range is formally tested and certified by TÜV Rheinland — the certificate and test report are part of the documentation package.
